What We Believe

We believe in God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. They are personalities with distinct roles, but there is one God: the creator of the universe. Matt. 28:19; John 10:30; 2 Cor. 13:14; Matt. 3:16-17

The Trinity

We believe Jesus Christ is the Messiah, the Savior, and the son of God therefore we believe Jesus Christ to be God Incarnate- fully God and at the same time, fully man. He was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, died on a cross, and was raised bodily from the grave. He will return as our victorious Lord. Luke 1:32; Phil. 2:5-6; John 17:21

The Church

We believe that church was established by Jesus Christ Himself, as the representation of Christ, His kingdom; His worship and work on the earth. Christ refers to His church as His bride, which will be reunited with Him upon His return Eph. 5:25-27; Matt. 5:19; Rev. 21:1-2. Only in and from His true church do we rightly worship, fellowship, witness, become students of His Word, and send out workers into the harvest. The church is the Pillar and Support of God’s truth- 1 Timothy 3:15.

We believe in God The Holy Spirit, the third member of the Trinity. We believe everyone who accepts Christ has the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit who acts as a Comforter, Guide, Helper, and Advocate. John 16:13-14; 1 Corinthians 6:19; Eph. 4:30. We believe the Holy Spirit has given each believer specific gifts with which to serve the body, or with which to reach the lost. We believe that certain gifts that were more tied to accompany apostles (the sign gifts- the power to heal, gifts of languages, raise people from the dead), died out with the last apostles and are no longer legitimately seen today. However, we strive to excel at the gifts that the Spirit gives for the church today (1 Cor 12; 1 Cor 13; 1 Cor. 14)

The Bible

We believe the Bible, in its original manuscripts, to be the infallible, inerrant Word of God and the final authority on all matters of life, godliness and sin. We believe the Bible to be the grid by which all truth-claims must pass. It is the very Word of the Lord and therefore is the very foundation of our beliefs as a church. We believe the fact that God used imperfect men to record a perfect message only brings Him greater glory. John 17:17; Heb. 4:12; Psalm 119:105; Matt. 4:4; Eph. 6:17; 2 Pet. 1:20-21; 2 Tim. 3:16

Salvation

We believe salvation requires true repentance and faith in no one else but the person and work of Jesus Christ on the cross as the only possible means by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12). We believe we cannot buy or earn salvation by the things we do (Eph. 2:8-9), but only through what Christ accomplished on the cross. We believe we, by our sin nature, that we are all disqualified for heaven (Rom. 3:23; Rom 6:23). Yet, while we were yet sinners, Christ died (paid) for that sin (Rom.5:8). At that point, what remains for the sinner is simply and honestly going before the Lord, crying out to Him, recognizing that we are condemned to eternal punishment without Him. We then need to cry out to Him for mercy and asking Him to save us according to the sacrifice of His only Son. If we truly mean that in their hearts, then the Lord will surely hear and will give our soul a new birth. Romans 10:9-10 states that “If we confess with our mouths Jesus as Lord, and believe in our hearts that God raised Him from the dead, we shall be saved. For it is with the heart a person believes resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.”
